BRITISH Polythene Industries has said it anticipates the company's performance for 2014 will comfortably meet current market expectations.

The Greenock-based firm, which manufactures films and packaging for the agriculture, construction and retail sectors, said: "Demand has been similar to last year and we currently anticipate that underlying volumes for the year will be broadly in line with 2013." The company added: "Raw material costs softened in November and again in December with a forecast of further decreases early next year." Shares in the company closed up 13.5p at 645.5p.
