View on Past Performance

The fund’s performance lagged the benchmark over the period. Positions in the oil/gas and food producers/processors industrieswere the main detractors. However, this was partially offset by its holdings in the media/entertainment and leisure/hotels sectors which benefited the fund’s performance.

Future Expectations

Growth in the UK continues to exceed that on the Continent. A positive backdrop for company earnings exists, but market returns have been lower than in the eurozone, possibly because the UK economy is further advanced in the economic cycle.
