LONDON (ShareCast) - - Liv Garfield to head up Severn Trent
- Tony Wray to retire next year
Liv Garfield, currently the head of BT Group's Openreach programme, is set to become the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Severn Trent as of next year.
Garfield replaces Tony Wray who has announced his intention to retire from the FTSE 100 utilities group in spring 2014.
Severn Trent Chairman Andrew Duff said he is "delighted" to welcome Garfield to the group: "Liv brings experience of managing customer service delivery and complex organisations in a regulated environment. We are all looking forward to working with Liv and warmly welcome her to Severn Trent.
"It is a testimony to the quality of this company that we have been able to attract someone of Liv's capabilities. This is in great part due to the outstanding job that Tony Wray has done during his time as CEO."
Garfield, who is also a Non-Executive Director of Tesco, has worked for BT since 2002, most recently as the CEO of BT's local access network division Openreach where she oversaw a £2.5bn commercial roll-out of fibre broadband.
"It is a huge wrench to leave Openreach but I feel the time is now right to take on a fresh challenge. Our commercial programme to bring fibre broadband to two thirds of UK premises is almost complete, whilst BT's public sector broadband partnerships are making good progress," she said in a statement."
