FTSE 250 movers: Centamin lower on Alecto Minerals split, De La Rue strong on potential bid

Date: Wednesday 18 Feb 2015

LONDON (ShareCast) - Centamin was in the red after revealing it was pulling out of its joint venture with Alecto Minerals in Ethiopia. Results from its 2014 drilling programme, which included 25 diamond drills holes at Wayu Boda, and the analysis of surface work carried out during the year will be handed to Alecto when complete.
WH Smith was lower after being downgraded to 'equal weight' by Barclays Capital, while TSB was hit with a ratings cut by Jefferies to 'hold'.

De La Rue was boosted by continued speculation about a bid for the company from French digital security specialist Oberthur Technologies. Oberthur had previously made a bid for De La Rue in 2011, but walked away after De La Rue refused to engage in talks over a potential takeover.

Homebuilder Galliford Try impressed with strong revenue and profit growth in its first six half, which allowed management to hike the interim dividend by 47%.

Regus shares rose to their highest in over a years as Credit Suisse increased their target price on the stock from 235p to 260p. "We think Regus can sustain double digit revenue growth with 25%+ cash return on cash invested on net investments," analysts wrote in a research note to investors.

Vesuvius was also among the risers after analysts at UBS added the company to its 'Key Call' list. The broker said of the addition: "We see attractions in general industrial names where there could be consensus EPS upside and also oversold oil capex exposed names."
