LONDON (ShareCast) - (Sharecast News) - Designer and manufacturer of antennas, filters and mmWave products Filtronic announced the receipt of a follow-on production order from an unnamed major European original equipment manufacturer for its 'Massive MIMO' (mMIMO) antenna product on Thursday.
The AIM-traded firm said the follow-on order, valued at approximately $1.1m, represented a continuance of demand for the mMIMO antenna for which it announced initial orders on 1 August, and was in line with its expectations.
It said the follow-on order was received on 29 August, and was expected to be fulfilled in the current calendar year.
As the product moved into regular production, demand was expected to flow in accordance with Filtronic's customer's normal buying cycles, the board explained.
As a result, Filtronic said it would not announce further orders for the product type unless they fell outside the expected pattern, or were material in the context of its anticipated financial performance.
The board cautioned that there was no certainty that production orders would continue at the current rate.
"We are pleased that order flow is now running for this product which is the first offering from our Massive MIMO antenna range," said chief executive officer Rob Smith.
"This technology is key to the densification of 4G/LTE networks and is a cornerstone technology for future 5G networks."
