LONDON (ShareCast) - Oil and gas producer Ascent Resources has announced the appointment of Colin Hutchinson as finance director with immediate effect.

Hutchinson has been serving as group financial controller and company secretary for the group since March 2013, having previously occupied the role of financial controller at Lochard Energy and finance directors at Samba Communications.

"I am delighted that Colin is joining the Board. He has been an integral part of the management team since he first joined the Company and we look forward to his input in board discussions," Clive Carver, the group non-executive chairman, said.

As of 12:43 on Wednesday, Ascent shares were down 1.10% to 0.396p.
