Edenville Energy confirms Alistair Muir as its new chief executive

By Josh White

Date: Monday 28 Oct 2019

LONDON (ShareCast) - (Sharecast News) - Edenville Energy, which is developing the Rukwa coal project in south west Tanzania, announced the appointment of Alistair Muir as its new chief executive officer on Monday, with effect from 1 November.
The AIM-traded firm said Muir joined its board as a non-executive director on 25 September, and had more than 25 years of operational experience within the mining industry, having spent the majority of that time working in the coal, uranium and iron ore sectors.

It said he had "extensive expertise" in open-pit mine development, project evaluation and exploration, particularly in the coal and power generation sectors, having worked on both thermal and coking coal initiatives.

Rufus Short would step down from the position of chief executive officer on 1 November, which the board said was to devote more time to family and other interests.

He would continue as a director of the company in a non-executive capacity.

The company also announced that it had appointed Buckingham Corporate Services as its company secretary, replacing David Venus & Company.

"I am pleased that we have someone of the calibre of Alistair to take on the role of chief executive," said Edenville's non-executive chairman Jeffrey Malaihollo.

"He has a wealth of operational mining experience, including in Tanzania.

"In particular his international coal mining experience, coupled with project management expertise, make him ideally suited to his new role as we continue to progress our flagship Rukwa coal project in Tanzania."

Malaihollo also thanked Short for his contribution to the company as chief executive, as it moved from an exploration company to a coal producer.

"I look forward to continuing to work with him in his new non-executive role and benefiting from his valuable advice and assistance."

As at 0806 GMT, shares in Edenville Energy were down 3.75% at 0.038p.
