LONDON (ShareCast) - Sunrise Resources announced on Tuesday sparkling results from first-phase drill samples at its Cue project in Western Australia.
The AIM-quoted mineral and exploration company recovered 244 micro-diamonds from 505kg kimberlite with three diamonds exceeding 0.5mm in size and eight over 0.4mm.
Of the sample 41% were white, 57% were off-white and 2.0% grey or brown.
Sunrise also said 92% were transparent and 88% showed no or minor inclusions and 31% were fragments.
Executive Chairman, Patrick Cheetham, said he was pleased with the results with all drill samples returning a significant number of diamonds.
"These results will now be submitted for expert evaluation alongside the results from microprobe analysis of various kimberlite indicator minerals from the drill samples which the board expects will provide additional information on the economic potential of the Cue1 kimberlite,” he said.
“In the meantime we are planning a programme of follow-up drilling which will include drill testing of the largest of the newly discovered kimberlite surface occurrences reported last month, where we already have Aboriginal heritage clearance. This is an exciting project where we feel we have only just scratched the surface."
