LONDON (ShareCast) - (Sharecast News) - Botox maker Allergan, which is being taken over in a $63bn blockbuster deal, has upped its full-year guidance after posting a forecast-beating set of third-quarter numbers.
The Dublin-headquartered company, which is listed in New York, said that non-GAAP income per share for the three months to 30 September was flat at $4.25, around 5 cents more than analyst forecasts. Non-GAAP operating income was down 7.7% at $1.76bn.

Group revenues were ahead 3.6% year-on-year at $4.05bn; Wall Street had been looking for around $3.88bn in revenues.

Revenues from Botox, Allergan's most well-known brand, where ahead 10% at $237.6m.

Brent Saunders, Allergan's chairman and chief executive, said: "The third quarter results demonstrated our commitment to continued strong operational performance. The core business has grown and has been bolstered by significant pipeline progress, with three new molecular entities currently under regulatory review."

Looking ahead, Allergan boosted its forecast for full-year revenues. They are now expected to come in between $15.6bn and $15.8bn, a $200m increase.

Pharmaceutical group AbbVie, which makes blockbuster arthritis treatment Humira, announced in June that it had agreed to buy Allergan. The takeover will create one of the world's biggest drugs company and is being reviewed by the US Federal Trade Commission. But Allergan said on Tuesday it still expected the deal to close in early 2020.
