LONDON (ShareCast) - (Sharecast News) - Construction, services and property company Kier Group has appointed Matthew Lester as its chairman with effect from 1 January 2020.
Lester, who was chief financial officer of Royal Mail from 2010 to 2017, was previously group finance director of ICAP and held a number of senior financial positions at drinks company Diageo.

More recently, he was a non-executive director of Man Group, Barclays and Capita. Lester will stand down from the board of directors of Barclays with effect from next year.

Kier said Philip Cox will step down as chairman on 1 January.

Lester said: "I look forward to working with the board to deliver the group's strategic priorities and in continuing to build the foundations for its future."

At 1020 GMT, the shares were up 1.5% at 92.45p.
