LONDON (ShareCast) - (ShareCast News) - AIM-listed Corero Network Security said on Monday that it has secured its first SmartWall contract win in the Australian market, worth more than $200,000.
The contract is an expansion of an existing digital enterprise customer's SmartWall deployment as this customer rolls out real-time distributed denial-of-service mitigation to its global locations. It will bring the total value of SmartWall wins with this customer in 2017 to $1.3m.
A DDoS attack is a cyber attack where the perpetrator seeks to make a machine or network resource unavailable to its intended users by temporarily or indefinitely disrupting services of a host connected to the internet.
The company said demand for its SmartWall solution comes amid high-profile commercial and industrial cyberattacks. DDoS attacks are increasingly being used as a smokescreen for breach and malware attacks, with Corero's target market for its scalable SmartWall solution expanding beyond service providers and hosting providers to include increasing numbers of digital enterprises seeking always-on DDoS mitigation technologies.
Andrew Lloyd, president of Sales and Marketing, said: "Our unique technology addresses the increasing number of digital enterprises seeking always-on real-time DDoS mitigation solutions in response to the rampant growth of commercial and industrial cybercrime.
"We are delighted to see SmartWall deployed in a new geography and with an additional new Australian customer win anticipated before the end of the financial year, we look forward to expanding our presence in this market. We expect additional business from this customer in the coming months as it further deploys Corero's SmartWall technology across its global operations."
At 0910 BST, the shares were up 6.4% to 7.18p.
