LONDON (ShareCast) - (Sharecast News) - Rome Resources confirmed on Monday that its exploration activities in the Democratic Republic of Congo remained unaffected by recent unrest in the city of Goma.
The AIM-traded company said it had taken precautionary measures by relocating its field operations, including helicopter support, to Bukavu, about 200 kilometres from Goma.

Drilling operations at the Mont Agoma and Kalayi prospects, also located 200 kilometres from Goma, were meanwhile continuing as planned.

Three drill rigs remained operational, while a fourth rig was currently undergoing routine maintenance.

The firm said it remained on schedule, and was in the process of reviewing drill results from several holes at the Kalayi prospect, with an update expected in the coming days.

Rome reiterated its commitment to advancing its tin exploration programme despite the regional challenges.

The company said it was monitoring the situation closely, and prioritising the safety of its personnel while maintaining its exploration timelines.

"Our exploration programme is progressing steadily across our licences and we remain committed to advancing our projects in a safe and responsible manner," said chief executive officer Paul Barrett.

"The well-being of our employees and contractors is our primary consideration, and we are closely monitoring the situation in Goma, while maintaining open lines of communication with our local team."

At 1438 GMT, shares in Rome Resources were down 7.48% at 0.28p.
