LONDON (ShareCast) - (Sharecast News) - Security and surveillance technology company Petards has been awarded a contract to supply Bombardier Transportation with its 'eyeTrain' systems, it announced on Wednesday.
The AIM-traded firm said the new contract was for the supply of eyeTrain systems to be fitted to 'Electrostar' electrical multiple unit trains as part of a £55m upgrade programme with train owner Porterbrook and operator Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR).
It said the upgrade would further enhance the Electrostar's video and data collection capability with the addition of the eyeTrain track debris and third rail cameras throughout the fleet.
Activities would start immediately, with the first equipment deliveries starting early 2021, and deliveries to be completed in early 2023.
"We are delighted that Petards' eyeTrain systems continue to be the system of choice for fitment to Bombardier's trains," said chairman Raschid Abdullah.
"This new order adds to our already significant installed base and strengthens our position as the leader of on train video and data solutions.
"Additionally it further bolsters the group's present order book to £12.3m, of which £6.9m is scheduled for delivery in 2021."
At 1208 BST, shares in Petards Group were up 14.03% at 8.98p.
