LONDON (ShareCast) - (Sharecast News) - Anne West, a non-executive director of Scottish Oriental Smaller Companies Trust, purchased 20,000 shares in the London-listed investment vehicle on Thursday.
West, who joined SST's board in 2010, acquired the shares at an average price of 1,027.80p each, for a total value of £205,560.

Scottish Oriental issued a debt warning on 11 August as the group became concerned that monetary policies put in place following the global financial crisis had created a world where investors and business owners assumed that "debt is wonderful".

The Edinburgh-based firm claimed that low-interest rates and quantitative easing had made debt cheaper for governments and companies to service.

"The wave of cheap money unleashed by these policies resulted in asset prices being bid up with the opportunity available to fund the purchase of assets with borrowed money at historic low interest rates," SST told investors.

As of 1500 BST, SST shares had risen 1.01% to 1,000p.
