LONDON (ShareCast) - (Sharecast News) - Education software and services provider Tribal Group has been made aware of the "unauthorised disclosure and likely access" of personal information of around 9,300 individuals, it announced on Monday.
The AIM-traded firm said the data was held by its Australia subsidiary Tribal Campus, in its capacity as a provider of a student information system to MEGT - an educational organisation in that country.

It said that, upon discovery of the unauthorised disclosure, "immediate steps" were taken to secure the data, and external forensic cyber security experts were appointed to investigate the circumstances and scope of the incident.

While those investigations were ongoing, the company said it had contacted the individuals that may have been affected and advised on the steps they should take.

The group said it was continuing to work closely with the regulator in Australia.

"Tribal confirms that this is an isolated incident relating to the migration of data for a single Tribal Campus customer in Australia involving a non-production system," the board said in its statement.

"No other customers, products or regions have been affected.

"Whilst there can be no certainty as to the financial impact, based on current estimates, costs to Tribal are not expected to be material."

The group said it would be announcing its interim results on 20 August, with trading for the full year remaining in line with the board's expectations.
