LONDON (ShareCast) - (ShareCast News) - Fresnillo worked to reassure investors over the security of its operations on Thursday, after a fatal and devastating earthquake hit Mexico City on Tuesday.
The FTSE 100 company is one of Mexico's largest gold and silver producers, with its corporate headquarters in Mexico City, where much of the damage and fatalities were concentrated.

It said that, following the earthquake, its corporate headquarters were assessed by specialists, who confirmed there had been "no structural damage" with the building declared "fully safe to occupy".

All administrative functions were resumed after that assessment.

"Fresnillo also confirms that all its operations, both mine sites and associated infrastructure, are unaffected by the earthquake and continue as normal," its board said in its statement.

"There is therefore no impact on production."

Fresnillo's board said the company's thoughts and sympathies were with "all of those affected" by the tragedy.
