LONDON (ShareCast) - (Sharecast News) - The coming week will see rate-setters in the UK, Japan, and US meet to decide on interest rates.
Only in the UK does the consensus anticipate a change, in the form of a 25 basis point cut in short-term official interest rates, to 5.0%.

The Monetary Policy Committee's decision will be announced on Thursday.

On Wednesday meanwhile, policymakers at the Bank of Japan are expected to discuss the opposite, a rate hike, and to announce plans to start moderating its bond purchase programme.

America's Federal Open Market Committee is also due to meet on Wednesday.

No change is anticipated in the Fed's policy, but it is expected to leave the door clearly open to a rate cut in September.

Against that backdrop, come Friday the US Department of Labor will release non-farm payrolls figures for July.

Chinese and US factory survey data due out on Thursday may also move financial markets.

Last, but certainly not least, Microsoft will publish its quarterly results on Tuesday, followed by Meta, on Wednesday, and by Amazon and Apple on Thursday.
