LONDON (ShareCast) - Mining and exploration group Central Asia Metals said production and sales of copper at its Kounrad copper recovery plant in Kazakhstan rose in the first quarter.
The London-listed company said that copper production in the first quarter rose 23% year-on-year to 2,350 tonnes, driven by an expanded boiler-house capacity which facilitated production during the winter months.
The group added that production remained in line with the expected seasonal variations in output as well as with its full-year production target of 13,000 tonnes.
Meanwhile, sales of copper in the first three months of the year grew 26% to 2,233 tonnes total copper production output since the start of operations at the end of April 2012 has now exceeded 30,000 tonnes.
