Google agrees €326m payment to settle Italy tax case

LONDON (ShareCast) - (Sharecast News) - Google has agreed to pay €326m to settle a tax dispute with Italian authorities, the Ansa news agency reported on Wednesday, citing Milan Chief Prosecutor Marcello Viola.




As a result, Milan's State Attorney's Office, which was probing Google's European unit on tax evasion charges, has asked to shelve the case, Viola said in a note.

Prosecutors alleged that Google did not file and pay taxes on revenue generated in Italy. The company in 2017 paid €306m to settle a separate case that found it had a permanent presence in the country.
