LONDON (ShareCast) - (Sharecast News) - Engineering and consulting firm Wood Group has signed a six-year contract with energy giant Shell to provide brownfield engineering, procurement, and construction management solutions.
The contract will see Wood Group provide services to Shell's Prelude floating liquefied natural gas platform facility in Western Australia - the largest floating offshore gas facility in the world. No financial details were disclosed regarding the contract.
"We are delighted to build on our 70-year global relationship with Shell to deliver integrated brownfield engineering solutions for Prelude," said Wood's chief executive Ken Gilmartin.
"LNG is a key transition fuel as industry balances the need for global energy security with the importance of urgent reduction in carbon emissions."
Shell owns a 67.5% in Prelude, which has a production capacity of 5.3m tonnes per annum of liquids. The facility started production in late-2018 and is expected to stay at its location 200km off the coast for 20 to 25 years in total.
Gilmartin said the award underlines Wood's position as a "market leader for brownfield engineering across Australia".
