LONDON (ShareCast) - (Sharecast News) - Security and industrial x-ray imaging technology company Image Scan announced the market launch of the 'ThreatScan-AS1' integrated portable x-Ray system for bomb squads and security professionals on Wednesday.
The AIM-traded firm said private demonstrations had already been carried out, with the system set to be shown to the wider security community for the first time at the upcoming Intersec exhibition in Dubai.
It said the new system was the first to use an amorphous silicon detector panel - the same technology used in medical x-ray.
Additionally, the system was "highly integrated", with the primary display, computer, communications and power supplies fully integrated into a single case.
The system also incorporated a new, higher energy version of the company's 'I-Gen' portable x-ray generator.
"I am delighted to announce the launch of this important new system," said executive chairman Bill Mawer.
"Amorphous silicon is a complementary technology to our highly successful line scan detectors and will allow us to offer a wide range of system configurations to meet customers' individual operating requirements, technology preferences and budgets.
"It is a testimony to the work of our entire team that this system has been conceived, developed, and transferred to production during the pandemic."
At 1336 GMT, shares in Image Scan Holdings were down 2.29% at 2.98p.
