LONDON (ShareCast) - (Sharecast News) - French train company Alstom confirmed on Monday that it is in talks with Canada's Bombardier about a possible acquisition of its train business.
"Discussions are ongoing," Alstom said, adding that no final decision has been made. "Alstom will inform the public of any material developments in this respect."
The statement followed reports over the weekend, with the Wall Street Journal suggesting that Alstom had reached a preliminary deal to buy the business for more than $7bn.
At 0850 GMT, Alstom shares were up 1.9% at €49.53.
