LONDON (ShareCast) - (Sharecast News) - ITM Power announced on Monday that it has entered into a strategic partnership with Germany's federal railway operator, Deutsche Bahn, to collaborate on the development and deployment of sustainable transport and infrastructure solutions, with a focus on green hydrogen and related technologies.
The AIM-traded firm said Deutsche Bahn - one of Europe's largest transport groups - is targeting climate neutrality by 2040, planning to transition its fleet of trains, buses and trucks to low and zero-emission alternatives.
It said the agreement would support that objective through a joint exploration of green energy technologies and infrastructure.
The partnership would focus on five core areas, including the decarbonisation of rail transport through technology sharing, the use of green hydrogen across DB's vehicle fleets, and the development of refuelling infrastructure.
It also included initiatives to enhance energy resilience, evaluate green hydrogen logistics and supply chains across Europe, and explore opportunities to pilot transport and storage solutions.
ITM Power said the collaboration marked a significant step in advancing green hydrogen adoption in the transport sector, and aligned with its wider strategy to scale deployment across industrial and mobility applications.
"Deutsche Bahn has an ambitious strategy to transition towards a clean and climate-friendly rail system in Germany and to play a major role in the transportation of green fuels," said ITM Power chief executive officer Dennis Schulz.
"We are delighted to support Deutsche Bahn in advancing sustainable transport solutions in the heart of the EU."
At 1341 GMT, shares in ITM Power were flat at 26.78p.
