LONDON (ShareCast) - (Sharecast News) - Logistics provider Eddie Stobart has been appointed by British supermarket group WM Morrison to provide transportation services from two of its distribution centres.
Stobart's new deal, announced on Friday by the group's indirectly owned associated GreenWhiteStar Acquisitions, was for three years and will see the business manage all transport planning and deliveries of chilled and ambient groceries from the locations to Morrisons' network of supermarkets.
The firm highlighted that the contract was additional to the work that Eddie Stobart currently carries out on behalf of Morrisons.
Chairman William Stobart said: "This further enhances our existing relationship with Morrisons and is testament to our current performance.
"It is excellent news for Eddie Stobart and strengthens our position in the marketplace as the leading transport provider for the retail and consumer sectors."
As of 1040 BST, Eddie Stobart shares were up 6.32% at 8.08p.
