Trellus Health launches consumer offering for IBS sufferers

By Josh White

Date: Friday 17 Feb 2023

LONDON (ShareCast) - (Sharecast News) - Trellus Health announced the launch of a direct-to-consumer (D2C) offering for people living with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) on Friday.
The AIM-traded company said the solution was based on a personalised, resilience-driven self-management programme, which had been scientifically validated to support chronic health conditions at their intersection with mental health.

It said the D2C offering included coordinated and personalised emotional, nutritional, and behavioural support, delivered remotely through digital solutions, as well as access to an expert resilience team via telehealth.

The firm said it had also expanded its existing agreement with the Mount Sinai Health System to include the 'Trellus Method' as a wellness benefit for patients with IBS, in addition to those with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).

It said the contract was originally disclosed in regulatory announcements made in October and December, adding that the expansion was part of its strategy to make the Trellus Method available to a larger target patient population by addressing resilience in an IBS as well as an IBD context.

"I am delighted to be in a position to launch the Trellus Method for IBS program, through both our D2C offering and by expanding one of our contracts with Mount Sinai," said chief executive officer Dr Marla Dubinsky.

"Trellus now offers a comprehensive gastroenterology (GI) solution for both IBS and IBD, and this represents the culmination of a lot of hard work by the team."

Dr Dubinsky said IBS affected around 30 million people in the US, adding that it often had a "significant impact" on a person's quality of life.

"We look forward to working with patients and partners to further evaluate how the Trellus Method can empower those suffering with IBD, and now also IBS, to achieve better health outcomes and increased quality of life, with reduced healthcare costs."

At 1442 GMT, shares in Trellus Health were up 8.8% at 8.16p.
