The Schroder Far East Income Fund aims to provide a growing income stream as well as capital growth over the long term. We see the Far East as increasingly attractive in terms of dividend yields and believe that a focus on income through the cycle allows us to access the region's high growth potential while also lowering volatility. The region is generally growing at a faster pace than its developed peers, with growth in domestic demand, strong current account surpluses and relatively balanced budgets. Overall, companies have healthy balance sheets and dividend payments have been rising. Corporate culture in Asia is also showing greater maturity, with an increasing focus on shareholder value and dividend payments.
The fund manager focuses on high quality companies with attractive valuations, which either have a sizeable yield or have the ability to pay higher dividends over time. We believe our approach enables us to take advantage of the region's potential, being supported by one of the largest and best resourced teams of investment professionals in Asia.
