Reckitt considers ditching sale of infant nutrition unit - report

By Michele Maatouk

Date: Tuesday 28 Jun 2022

LONDON (ShareCast) - (Sharecast News) - Reckitt Benckiser is reportedly considering whether to shelve the sale of its infant nutrition unit, as the high-profile deal falls victim to chaos in the industry and worsening financing markets.
Bloomberg cited people familiar with the matter as saying that talks between the consumer goods giant and potential buyers have stalled in recent weeks.

The business, which sells brands including Enfamil, was expected to fetch around $7bn.

It was understood that disagreements over valuation, a lack of available funding and an ongoing baby formula crisis in the US - Reckitt's biggest market - had complicated efforts to sell the business.

Bloomberg reported last month that private equity firm Clayton Dubilier & Rice was one of the few that had submitted a non-binding bid for the infant nutrition unit.
