The Fund aims to provide long term capital growth by matching the return of the FTSE All-Share Index. The Fund will invest in companies that make up the FTSE All-Share Index.
UK equities fell sharply in June with falls across all sectors. Investor sentiment was affected by concerns about weak economic growth and higher inflation.Consumer and financial sectors were particularly weak with a more resilient performance from oil & gas and basic materials. Financials, oil & gas and consumer services are the largest sector weightings within the Index. The smaller oil & gas companies performed well while there was further weakness in consumer-related stocks.
The corporate environment is challenging especially in the consumer and banking sectors. While the valuation of the UK equity market is below the long term average, the outlook for earnings remains uncertain. Markets are likely to remain volatile while the level of economic uncertainty is high.
