LONDON (ShareCast) - Tate & Lyle's President of speciality food ingredients has sold 74,588 shares in the sugar and sweetener giant after the shares were released under the group's performance share plan.

Olivier Rigaud, who took up his current role at the sugars and sweeteners group in June 2010, traded the shares in at 671.56p, reflecting the heavy losses seen in the group's share price in the year-to-date.

The £500,903 deal follows a challenging year for Tate, which has seen it demoted to the FTSE 250 following a sharp decline in its share price the previous month on the back of a profit warning.

Results released at the end of May were broadly in line with the adjusted forecasts given in February, with pre-tax profit down £11m to £290m on a 3% decline in sales, hit by lower sucralose prices, which was in turn caused by a supply surplus in China.
