LONDON (ShareCast) - (Sharecast News) - Haydale Graphene has secured £0.26m in funding from Innovate UK, it announced on Tuesday, to develop imaging techniques that characterise 2D materials, including graphene.
The AIM-traded firm said the project, subbed 'ACCORDs', was looking to standardise the characterisation of 2D materials with the goal of adoption by standardisation bodies such as ISO.

It said it was one of 10 partners in the consortium, and would provide unfunctionalised and 'HDPlas'-functionalised nanomaterial powder, masterbatch, laminate, ink and coated substrate samples for the project.

Led by the University of Ljubljana, the programme would use imaging tools to create a visual reference of the structure and morphology of 2D materials to simplify the process of material selection for companies using nanomaterials.

The project began on 30 January, and was expected to run for 42 months.

"Haydale will be instrumental in helping to develop imaging techniques never used before to characterise 2D materials for their use in a wide range of applications," said Haydale UK site director John-Mark Seymour.

"We work with nanomaterials daily and have characterised over 250 types of graphene and so we are delighted to be sharing our expertise and working with the other consortium partners to deliver this important research project for our industry."

At the close on Tuesday, shares in Haydale Graphene Industries were down 1.49% at 1.65p.
