Ilika's Goliath P1 solid-state prototypes meet independent performance specs

(Sharecast News) - Ilika announced on Thursday that its Goliath P1 solid-state battery prototypes have successfully met performance specifications in independent tests conducted by original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and tier one automotive partners.
The AIM-traded battery developer said the validation confirmed the cells' energy capacity, charge rate, power delivery, and cycle life, with strong reproducibility and consistent electrochemical performance across the batch.

It said the tests were carried out under commercial agreements with confidentiality provisions, and used protocols representative of those employed in evaluating batteries for electric vehicles.

Despite variations in testing methodologies across partners, Ilika reported consistent and globally relevant results.

A tier one partner supplying major OEMs confirmed the prototypes were "in the cohort of leading solid-state batteries" they had tested, and expressed interest in evaluating future iterations.

Ilika said it was progressing its solid-state roadmap, having already released safety data validated by the Faraday Institution's Safebatt programme.

It said it was currently testing larger 10Ah cells and expects to release 10Ah P1.5 prototypes in the second half of 2025.

Development was also underway on a 50Ah minimum viable product (P2), expected by year-end, which would form the basis for future licensing opportunities.

"Customer validation of our Goliath roadmap is of primary importance to us to ensure that we are progressing towards a minimum viable product that meets or exceeds customer expectations," said Ilika chief executive officer Graeme Purdy.

"Clearly, this set of validations increases our confidence in the attractiveness of our roadmap.

"We will continue to engage with a portfolio of potential manufacturing partners to minimise commercialisation risk."

At 1308 BST, shares in Ilika were up 1.75% at 36.38p.
