Idox secures £2.4m contract with North Yorkshire Council

(Sharecast News) - Idox announced a £2.4m strategic contract with North Yorkshire Council on Tuesday, to consolidate its eight planning and building control systems into a single cloud-based platform.
The AIM-traded firm described the partnership as a milestone in the modernisation of local government services in England.

It said the deal came amid ongoing UK government initiatives to streamline local governance by merging district and county councils into larger, more efficient unitary authorities.

North Yorkshire - the largest unitary council in England - was reportedly seeking to enhance service delivery, reduce costs, and improve resource allocation through the consolidation.

Idox said its platform could serve as a model for other councils navigating similar restructuring efforts driven by the government's focus on financial sustainability and the creation of more efficient governance frameworks.

The company said the deal would add to its experience in delivering similar projects in Cornwall, Shropshire, and Durham.

Its board said that with a strong pipeline of opportunities, Idox was well-positioned to benefit as local authorities across the UK looked to modernise operations.

"This latest contract award demonstrates our leading planning software capabilities and track record of successfully delivering complex projects," said chief executive officer David Meaden.

"We're not just implementing a solution; we're helping North Yorkshire reimagine how planning services can be delivered more intelligently and cost-effectively.

"With the government intensifying its focus on creating more resilient, digitally enabled local governance structures, Idox is strategically positioned to be a key enabler of this national transformation."

At 1206 GMT, shares in Idox were up 1.34% at 60.6p.
