Christmas came early for Britain’s banking sector this week in the form of the Supreme Court’s decision on overdraft charges and Sir David Walker’s reform proposals. Hopes of refunds for billions of pounds of bank charges were dashed on Wednesday after the Supreme Court ruled against the Office of Fair Trading in a long running dispute over the fairness of overdraft costs.
