Drax awaits nod on biomass plant
Power producer Drax delayed a decision on its first power station to run entirely on environmentally friendly biomass until next year.
Drax (up 0.1p at 386.8p) said it had been expecting to make the investment case for the new 'green' power plant by the end of the year, but first needed greater assurance of government support.
The operator of Britain's largest coal-fired power station, in North Yorkshire, reported a 23% rise in first-half profits to £184m.
The interim dividend was hiked to 14.1p from 4.1p a year ago.
