Banker recruitment climbing back to 2007 peak

Recruitment of bankers is climbing back up to pre-crisis levels as banks look for better candidates and workers look for better bonuses, according to recruiter Michael Page.

The headhunting firm, which specialises in filling financial services vacancies, reported a five-fold leap in pre-tax profit to £100.7m and a 12.5% rise in the full-year dividend to 9p.

It said it was down to a recovery in the private sector jobs market and strong growth in Latin America and Asia.

Chief executive Steve Ingram said recruitment in the banking sector was 'steadily growing' back up to its 2007 peak. Shares were down 11p to 524.5p.
