Anglo American in rough over £8,000 golfing perk for former boss Cynthia Carroll
Par for the course: Former boss Cynthia Carroll
Anglo American spent nearly £8,000 on four months of tennis and golf club membership for former boss Cynthia Carroll last year.
Carroll, who led the group to a first loss since 1999 in her final year in charge, received a ‘club allowance’ worth £7,673 in 2013.
The payment is understood to have funded membership of an exclusive golf and tennis club.
Anglo did not disclose the size of the allowance in previous years, but the annual report says last year’s sum was for her last four months of employment.
Carroll’s successor Mark Cutifani has set about trimming costs since his arrival, as miners wrestle with high costs and low metals prices.
One of his first moves was to axe the company’s £30million Gulfstream G550 private jet.
But Anglo’s annual report revealed last month that the Australian was handed a £5.3m pay packet in 2013, including an £835,000 top-up to help him move house.
