US pre-open: Futures in the green ahead of retail sales data

(Sharecast News) - Wall Street futures were in the green ahead of the bell on Friday ahead of the publication of last month's retail sales data.
As of 1230 BST, Dow Jones futures were up 0.42%, while S&P 500 and Nasdaq-100 futures were 0.34% and 0.29% firmer, respectively.

The Dow closed 534.75 points higher on Thursday on the back of some solid bank earnings and a better-than-expected jobless claims report.

With things mostly quiet on the earnings front, Friday's primary focus will be last month's retail sales numbers at 1330 BST, with economists expecting to see sales slide 0.2% month-on-month in September.

AvaTrade's Naeem Aslam said: "There is a lot of optimism everywhere on the final trading day of the week.

"Overall, it is safe to say that the US equity market is fully in a risk-on mode and traders aren't afraid in backing riskier assets."

On the macro front, September retail sales figures will be published at 1330 BST, while a preliminary reading of the University of Michigan's October consumer sentiment index was scheduled for release at 1500 BST and the Federal Government's September budget statement will follow at 1900 BST.

In the corporate space, Goldman Sachs will report its latest quarterly earnings before the openning bell.
