EU new car registrations rise again in November

(Sharecast News) - Europe's passenger car market saw another "strong uplift" in November, according to industry data released on Thursday, with passenger car registrations rising for the fourth consecutive month, by 16.3%.
The European Automobile Manufacturers Association, or ACEA, said while 829,527 units were sold in the month, volumes remained "well below" pre-pandemic levels in November 2019, when one million cars were registered.

It said most of the region's markets contributed positively to the growth, including the four largest ones.

The strongest increase was observed in Germany at 31.4%, followed by Italy at 14.7%, Spain at 10.3%, and France at 9.8%.

Looking at the first 11 months of 2022, meanwhile, the ACEA said new passenger car registrations across the EU were 6.1% lower compared to the same period last year.

Among the region's four key markets, Italy recorded the weakest result so far this year with an 11.6% drop, followed by France which was down 8.7%, Spain at 4.4% weaker, and Germany which was 2.4% lower.

"Despite the recent strong results, declines generated from January to July were enough to drag down the year-to-date performance," the industry body said in its statement.
