(Sharecast News) - Eurozone sentiment deteriorated in June as worries about the German economy weighed, according to data released on Monday.
The Sentix investor sentiment index fell to -17.0 in June from -13.1 in May, hitting its lowest level since January and missing consensus expectations of -15.1.
The current conditions index declined to -15.8 from -7.0, while the expectations gauge ticked up to -18.3 in June from -19.0 the month before.
The headline Sentix index for Germany slid to its lowest since November last year, at -21.1.
Melanie Debono, senior Europe economist at Pantheon Macroeconomics, said: "Looking ahead, with EZ GDP growth likely to stay weak and monetary policy set to be tightened further - and risks tilted toward further rate hikes - we certainly see risks tilted to the downside for EZ financial markets and sentiment in the next three months."
