Eurozone consumer confidence hits 22-month high in December

(Sharecast News) - Consumer confidence in the eurozone was revised to a 22-month high in December, according to the final estimates of a survey released on Monday by the European Commission.
The consumer confidence index was revised to -15.0 after the flash estimate of -15.1, the EC said, after a print of -16.9 in November.
This was the survey's highest reading since February 2022, and slightly higher than the consensus estimate for no change on the initial reading.
Meanwhile, the overall eurozone economic sentiment indicator - comprised of surveys of both business and consumer confidence - rose to 96.4 from 94, hitting its highest since May 2023. Confidence improved across all sectors, the EC reported.
Separately, the Sentix investor sentiment survey for the eurozone increased for the third straight month in January but remains below zero at -15.8. Still, it was the highest reading since May 2023, and up from -16.8 in December and -18.6 in November.
