(Sharecast News) - The U.S. jobs market remained tight during the preceding week.
According to the Department of Labor, in seasonally adjusted terms the number of first-time unemployment claims dipped by 2,000 over the week ending on 23 March to reach 210,000.
Economists polled by Dow Jones Newswires had forecasts 211,000.
The four-week moving average, which aims to smooth out the variations in the figures from one week to the next slipped by 750 to 211,000.
Secondary unemployment claims, which are those not being filed for the first time and referencing the week ending on 16 March edged up by 24,000 to 1.819m.
