(Sharecast News) - Waste-to-energy technology developer Powerhouse Energy reported progress on the development of its technical centre in Bridgend, Wales on Tuesday, which it described as a key part of its strategy to demonstrate its waste-to-energy technology and explore commercial applications.
The AIM-traded firm said recent milestones included the delivery of key equipment, such as the Instrument Air and Nitrogen Generation package from Atlas Copco, the Thermal Conversion Chamber (TCC) kiln from AGICO, and the gas clean-up system from VUM of Germany.
Those deliveries were supporting ongoing installation efforts at the Bridgend site.
Civil works for the external Nitrogen and Produced Water tanks, which began in September, were reportedly progressing on schedule.
Meanwhile, the process control system and panel had advanced as expected, with cabling and installation of utility and syngas pipework set to begin this month.
The company said it aimed to complete installation and commissioning by mid-to-late in the fourth quarter.
Additionally, Powerhouse said it had relocated its demonstration unit from Chester to Bridgend, consolidating its operations at the new site.
The unit has a capacity to process 2.5 tonnes of waste per day into syngas, which can generate up to 250kW of electrical power or 200 kilograms of hydrogen per day with the appropriate separation process.
Initially, the unit would be used for research and development, as well as demonstrations for investors and customers.
Following those activities, Powerhouse said it would assess commercial opportunities for the process.
"I am extremely pleased with the progress we are making on the FTU build, whilst we continue to maintain our schedule and budget," said chief executive officer Paul Emmitt.
"This is a hugely significant milestone for the company as having a fully operational technology centre will undoubtedly help provide us with even greater impetus to our pipeline whilst further innovating the services that we can provide.
"We look forward to providing further updates as we progress towards completion in the fourth quarter of this year."
At 1628 BST, shares in Powerhouse Energy Group were down 2.27% at 1.08p.
