Annual deliveries fall at Porsche as Chinese sales tank

(Sharecast News) - Porsche delivered 3% fewer cars in 2024, the German sports car maker announced on Monday, with a sharp drop in sales in China outweighing growth in other regions.
The manufacturer reported deliveries of 310,718 vehicles for last year, which board member Detlev von Platen said was an "extremely robust" result in a challenging market.

"We have invested a lot in our brand and we are pleased to see that the breakdown of our sales across the individual regions of the world remains very balanced," said von Platen, member of the executive board for sales and marketing.

Just 56,887 cars were delivered to customers in China in 2024, down 28% on the year before, which Porsche blamed on "the continuing challenging economic situation in this region".

North America, its largest sales region, saw 1% higher deliveries at 86,541, while Europe (excluding Germany) increased sales by 8% to 75,899. In its domestic market of Germany, deliveries were up 11% at 35,868, while other international markets grew 6% to 55,533.

The car maker also announced that the share of electrified sports cars increased from 22% to 27% over the year - almost half of which were purely electric vehicles - helped by the launch of its second-all electric model, the new Macan.

"I am [...] particularly pleased that more than 18,000 examples of the all-electric variant have already been delivered to customers in the past months," von Platen said.
