(Sharecast News) - Velocity Composites announced the appointment of Oliver Smalley as its chief operations officer in a non-board role on Tuesday, where he would focus on business process improvements, digital transformation, new product introduction, and operational efficiency.
The AIM-traded firm made the appointment as it looked to build on its recent growth and expand further in the US and Europe.
It said Smalley would bring more than 20 years of experience in manufacturing, engineering, and operational leadership across both composites and metallics.
His previous roles included senior positions at Buoyancy Aerospace, BAE Systems, and Brookhouse Aerospace.
He had also played a key role in developing greenfield manufacturing sites across the UK and Europe, overseeing operational structures including manufacturing, engineering, quality control, health and safety, procurement, and commercial functions.
Velocity said Smalley's expertise in business process optimisation and digital transformation aligned with the company's strategic objectives.
It said it was aiming to capitalise on its strong momentum following the financial results announced on 29 January, and position itself for further growth in its key markets.
"Oliver adds a wealth of operational experience across aerospace and related sectors, and he is a welcome addition to our senior team as we grow our international capability," said chief executive officer Jon Bridges.
"On behalf of the whole team at Velocity we wish Oliver well in his new role and thank Kevin Hickey for all his support since he temporarily rejoined the company in August 2023 as he returns to his retirement after a hand over to Oliver."
At 1240 GMT, shares in Velocity Composites were down 3.23% at 30p.
