(Sharecast News) - Wall Street futures were in the green ahead of the bell on Wednesday as investors looked ahead to a speech from Donald Trump and earnings from AI-darling Nvidia after the close.
As of 1230 GMT, Dow Jones futures were up 0.26%, while S&P 500 and Nasdaq-100 futures had the indices opening 0.49% and 0.80% firmer, respectively.
The Dow closed 159.95 points higher on Tuesday, extending modest gains recorded in the previous session despite weaker-than-expected consumer confidence numbers.
Disappointing retail figures, as well as the consumer sentiment reading, have increased investors' fears regarding the state of the US economy of late and earnings from market bellwether Nvidia after the close will likely be the market's next primary focus.
On the macro front, mortgage applications decreased by 1.2% in the week ended 21 February, according to the Mortgage Bankers Association of America, Applications to refinance a mortgage fell by 4%, while applications to purchase a new home were flat.
Still to come, Donald Trump will deliver a speech at 1400 GMT, while January new home sales data will be published at 1500 GMT.
