Mitie appoints Chris Rogers as its next chair

(Sharecast News) - Mitie Group announced the appointment of Christopher Rogers as its chair-elect on Wednesday, to succeed Derek Mapp as chair following the company's annual general meeting on 22 July, when Mapp would step down after eight years on the board.
The FTSE 250 facilities management company said Rogers would bring extensive boardroom experience, currently serving as chair of Wickes Group and senior independent director at Kerry Group.

He was previously a non-executive director at Vivo Energy and Travis Perkins.

"I am delighted to be joining the board of Mitie," Chris Rogers commented.

"Mitie has a highly experienced management team and I am looking forward to working with them and the board to grow and develop the business further and to continue to deliver value for all Mitie's stakeholders."

Mitie noted that during his executive career, Rogers had been an executive director at Whitbread from 2005 to 2016, where he served as chief financial officer for seven years before becoming global managing director of Costa Coffee.

His earlier roles included senior finance and commercial positions at Kingfisher and Woolworths Group.

"Derek Mapp has been an inspirational chairman during Mitie's evolution and its emergence as the UK's largest technology-led facilities transformation business," said chief executive officer Phil Bentley.

"I'd like to thank him for his wise counsel, strategic judgement and his 'eye' for creating value - he will be missed.

"Mitie is now a world class company and I very much look forward to working closely with Chris, as we take the business forward and enter the second year of our facilities transformation three-year plan."

At 0915 GMT, shares in Mitie Group were down 0.14% at 112.44p.
