Week ahead: Ukraine talks, UK CPI in the spotlight

(Sharecast News) - Geopolitics will continue to be front and centre on investors' minds over the coming week, as negotiators from the US, Ukraine and Russia meet in Saudi Arabia.
Investors will also be keeping tabs on any news-flow pertaining to the reciprocal tariffs planned by the US administration and which are due to kick in on 2 April.
Against that backdrop, the week's main data releases will be inflation readings in the UK and US due out on Wednesday and Friday, respectively.
On Wednesday, the Office for National Statistics is expected to report that the annual rate of increase in consumer prices in the UK ticked lower by a tenth of a percentage point in February to reach 3.6%.
Friday meanwhile will bring with it the US Federal Reserve's preferred inflation gauge, the price deflator for personal consumption expenditures.
The PCE price data will be followed by a final reading on US consumer confidence and inflation expectations later that same day.
Also due out, on Monday, are a raft of purchasing managers surveys for manufacturing and services sector activity in the UK, euro area and US covering the month of March.
