(Sharecast News) - German retail sales rose by 0.8% in February 2025 compared to the previous month, the federal statistics office said on Monday.
Sales increased by 0.7% in real terms, revised upwards from a flash estimate of 0.2%, compared to December 2024, following revisions of the preliminary figures. Compared to February 2024 sales grew by 4.9% in real terms.
Food retail sales were up by 0.8% month-on-month and 3.3% year-on-year in February in real terms, while the retail sales in non-food retail trade in real terms added 0.6% compared to January's figure and 5.2% compared to February 2024.
In a separate release, import prices were 3.6% higher in February year on year, the largest rise since January 2023. Compared with the same month a year earlier, the rate of change was +3.1% in January 2025, and +2.0% in December 2024.
On a monthly basis import prices rose by 0.3%.
