Week ahead: Financial stability, US CPI in the spotlight

(Sharecast News) - Investors' focus over the coming week will be on whether the recent start of a market meltdown abates, or not, and financial stability concerns that might arise as a result.
Key in that regard will be the possible response from economic authorities around the world, as well as progress - or lack thereof - in trade negotiations between Washington and other key trading nations.
Geopolitics will not be far from traders' minds either, be it as regards Ukraine or the Middle East.
Against that backdrop, the week's key risk events, in terms of data, will be the latest Chinese and US inflation numbers due out on Thursday.
US Treasury auction results, starting from Tuesday, will also be closely monitored.
Previously, Wednesday will bring with it the release of the minutes of the US Federal Reserve's latest policy meeting.
At the end of the week, the University of Michigan will publish the preliminary results of its consumer confidence survey.
