China to lift ban on Boeing deliveries - report

(Sharecast News) - China has lifted its ban on Boeing deliveries, it was reported on Tuesday, as tensions between Washington and Beijing continued to ease.

Jet maker Boeing was hit with a ban on imports as part of the escalating trade war between the two economies, the world's biggest.

Last month the US firm said it would look to resell potentially dozens of aircraft after customers in China refused to take delivery.

But according to Bloomberg, citing unnamed people familiar with the matter, China will now once again allow domestic carriers and government agencies to take delivery of US-made aircraft.

It comes 24 hours after a crucial 90-day trade deal was struck between the US and China that will see reciprocal tariffs slashed on a range of goods.

Boeing shares jumped on Monday in response to that agreement, closing 2% higher, and were up a further 1% in pre-market trading as at 1115 BST on Tuesday.

An increasingly important aviation market, China accounts for around 10% of Boeing's commercial backlog. Prior to Donald Trump kickstarting the trade war on 2 April, Boeing had expected to deliver 50 jets to Chinese carriers this year.
